In the event you are unable to attend a class please follow the correct procedure to inform the Taught Programmes Office (TPO) of your absence:
Absences for Medical Reasons
If you have a long term medical condition that may affect your attendance in classes you should provide TPO with an up-dated medical certificate at the start of every semester. If you are suffering from a short term illness e.g. flu/virus in the first instance you must email your seminar tutor. If the absence is for up to one week you should also complete a Self-Certificate which is available by clicking here or from TPO Reception, ARTS II, Floor 0, Room 0.69. The completed Self-Certificate should then be returned to TPO Reception. If the absence is for longer than one week, or if you miss a Class Test or a class in which you are due to give an assessed presentation, you should provide TPO with a medical certificate from your doctor.
Absences for Non-Medical Reasons
There may be occasions where you have to be absent from class for personal reasons. In these situations you should contact your tutor prior to the missed class, where it is practicable, to seek approval for your absence. In the event that these personal circumstances require you to return home and/or miss classes for more than one week you should contact the relevant Senior Administrator in TPO:
Linda Fairclough (l.fairclough@uea.ac.uk) HIS/ PHI/ PSI
Jenny Humphries (j.humphries@uea.ac.uk) ART/ LIT/ MUS
Michele Pavey (m.pavey@uea.ac.uk) AMS/ FTV/ LCS
You may also find it useful to contact your Adviser.
If you think that your situation does not fit any of the above categories please contact TPO for further advice.
