Postdoctoral research on social evolution and the evolution of ageing in bumble bees

£32,548 - £38,833 per annum


An experienced postdoctoral researcher is sought to work on a three-year, NERC-funded project in a team supervised by Professors Andrew Bourke and Tracey Chapman.  The aim of the project is to investigate costs of reproduction and the fecundity-longevity trade-off in the bumble bee Bombus terrestris and the fruitfly Drosophila melanogaster.  The wider goal is to determine the effects of social evolution on the evolution of ageing. 

You will have a minimum of a PhD in a relevant area, research experience of working with bumble bees or similar model systems, and be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification.

This full-time post is available from 1 October 2017, for a fixed term up to 36 months or until 30 September 2020.
