Executive Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences
Ref: ATR1121

Founded in 1963, the University of East Anglia (UEA) is a campus-based University with a reputation for academic excellence and rigour within a supportive ethos. The University is situated within 320 acres of parkland on the outskirts of the medieval city of Norwich. This location and striking modern campus provide an outstanding quality of life, and the University's enthusiastic atmosphere and willingness to explore new ideas makes UEA a special place to work. In the 50 years since its foundation, UEA has become renowned for top-quality research and teaching in a wide variety of areas. At the heart of UEA's innovative thinking is the principle of interdisciplinarity which has shaped the intellectual environment, education and wider impact of each of its four Faculties. The University has over 14,000 students, over 3,000 staff and turnover is approaching £200 million.

The Executive Dean reports to the Vice-Chancellor and has academic and budget responsibility for the Faculty of Social Sciences, which incorporates seven Schools: Economics; Education and Lifelong Learning; International Development; UEA Law School; Norwich Business School; Social Work; and Psychology. The Faculty has grown considerably over the past 5 years with excellent staff appointments and its courses are consistently highly ranked in the National Student Survey.

We are seeking a skilful academic leader with a significant record of teaching and research in social science, a strong management track record and a demonstrated capacity to capitalise on the synergies between disciplines. Able to identify, create and foster links and engender confidence with external agencies, he or she will have exceptional strategic vision.
