The radar station at RAF Neatishead began operating in 1941 and continued in this role throughout the Second World War and  through the Cold War.

In 1954, the main Operations Centre was re-established deep underground in a vast two-storey hardened Bunker designed to withstand attack by nuclear weapons.  Today, the base at Neatishead is still part of the UK Air Surveillance and Control System (ASACS).

The RAF Air Defence Radar Museum is also located on the site and is a partner in the project. The museum's aim is "to provide a focal point for the heritage associated with the air defence of the United Kingdom and in particular all elements of the command and control (C²) organisation associated with it".

If you worked at RAF Neatishead during the Cold War, or lived around the station and have memories to share, or want help with research into the site, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
