During the Cold War opinions on the merits of Britain's role as a nuclear power and membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation were the subject of intense discussion.

East Anglia was the home to many who disagreed with British government policy on nuclear weapons and the Cold War. In 1958, for example, large demonstrations were held against the construction of the North Pickenham Thor missile site near Swaffham, Norfolk.

Were you one of those who demonstrated against nuclear weapons or Cold War policy more generally in this period? Or did you feel such campaigns were incorrect? We would like to hear from you to discuss and record your views on these matters. Please contact us.
