Tom Williamson heads up the Landscape Group within the School of History – a collection of academics, researchers and research students studying all aspects of the English landscape, from later prehistory to the present. He is currently involved in a number of projects, including the GIS-aided study of Agriculture and the Landscape in Midland EnglandAgriculture and the Landscape in East Anglia, 1870-1950, funded by the AHRC; and , funded by the Leverhulme Trust. He is also actively involved in the study of designed landscapes, especially parks and gardens of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. He teaches courses on landscape archaeology at undergraduate and MA level, and supervises a large number of MPhil and PhD students studying a variety of subjects related to landscape archaeology, agricultural history, and the history of landscape design.
