Finding PhD funding for supervisors
Fully funded studentships (UEA)
These are studentships which pay fees (Home/EU), an annual stipend of £13,590, a Research Student Training Grant £1,000 and up to £4K in project costs/consumables per annum for three years.
Each year the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences commits a number of these studentships, which are awarded to supervisors competitively. Selection of projects is made against set criteria, which includes peer review.
The call for FMH funded studentships for the academic year 2013-14 is now closed. The call for 2014-15 studentships will be made in early July 2013 with a closing date of mid September 2013

Externally funded studentships
There are two ways in which externally funded studentships can be applied for
- A supervisor puts forward a project to a funder and if awarded then advertises and recruits a PGR student.
- A named PGR applicant, together with the proposed supervisors, submit a joint application to a funder, e.g. NIHR Doctoral Fellowships, NIHR Clinical Academic Training Fellowships for Nurses, Midwifes and AHPs, MRC etc.
To search for PGR studentship/fellowship opportunities go to https://intranet.uea.ac.uk/researchandenterprise/find-funding/funders and select ‘studentship grants'.
