Creating design solutions for service users with acquired brain injury
Dr Kath Mares and the Rehabilitation research group have been working with Mrs Kate Finlay of Hethersett Academy in Norwich and Headway Norfolk and Waveney to engage Year 9 students in creating design solutions for service users with acquired brain injury. This contributed to the work that led to a successful application to The Royal Society Partnership Grant which meant that Hethersett Academy could purchase three 3D printers.
The School of Health Sciences hosted an outreach event which saw 23 Year 9 pupils being introduced to the research and product design work that Dr Mares and Dr Niamh Kennedy have been engaged in to develop impact as part of their research programmes. The event was a great success and the pupils will now be going on to use the purchased equipment to create design solutions to problems identified by the service users at Headway Norfolk and Waveney.
