Jo-Anne Greere is the new Director of The UEA Water Security Centre
The Water Security Research Centre (WSRC) at UEA is pleased to announce the appointment of Jo-Anne Geere (HSC) as its new Director. The WSRC was founded in 2011 to bring together researchers from across the University of East Anglia, including from the Schools of International Development, Environmental Sciences, and Health Sciences, to address the theoretical, practical and policy challenges of managing and governing water for different human, economic and environmental needs from the local to the global scales.
Since joining UEA in 2004 Jo has been involved in mixed methods research projects investigating how health is associated with domestic and informal work, particularly in low income regions of sub-Saharan Africa. Her current research focusses on water security and the health and social impacts of fetching water. Jo is interested in the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases and disability, and how to improve health, well-being and WaSH services for vulnerable people, particularly those living with long term health conditions. Her research is informed by her clinical background in physiotherapy and the management of people with musculoskeletal disorders or physical disability.
