Mr Hope Gangata has been appointed as an Anatomy Lecturer in the School of Medicine, Health Policy and Practice.
Mr Gangata joins the Faculty of Health from the University of Cape Town, where he was an anatomy lecturer in the Faculty of Health Sciences. He is a qualified physiotherapist and specialised in human anatomy. Mr Gangata's main research interests are primarily on the musculoskeletal system and anatomical education. Past research include the ambulation of children with cerebral palsy, the palmaris longus muscle and creating innovative learning approaches that emphasis the three-dimensional anatomy. He is currently working on establishing the extent of the genetic role on the instability of the palmaris longus muscle in identical twins. Future work would be in researching on the anatomical basis of Physiotherapy techniques, such as manipulations and orthopaedics.
