NAM delight at reports of their fundraising efforts making a real difference in Malawi

Student and Staff were delighted to see reports of their fundraising efforts and equipment donation (along with the generosity of other organisations and individuals) making a real difference in the Dedza District Hospital, Malawi. Pictured above is a clinical officer at the hospital using one of the stethoscopes and light pens bought with a donation from the Freemasons. Pictured below is one of the ambu bags that NAM donated being used in the baby intensive care unit.

The Norwich-Dedza Partnership is a charitable trust co-ordinated by volunteers and supported by Norwich City Council. It was established to enable organisations and individuals in and around Norwich to assist in the development of the District of Dedza in Malawi. For the past few years through the Norwich-Dedza Partnership the staff and students of NAM have played a key role in supporting Dedza general hospital by collecting extra equipment and by energetic fund raising to purchase basic equipment for doctors and nurses. The most recent shipment of neonatal equipment literally saved life!
Charlene Lobo, a lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, who has been very closely involved in the partnership, said, "It is wonderful to see the evidence of the fund raising work in action. The students, in particular, have shown great enthusiasm in supporting the Norwich-Dezda Partnership and we all look forward to doing more in the future. It's a fantastic effort that really is saving lives."
