The 1 year Diploma in Higher Education (DipHE) Paramedic Science programme is a collaborative initiative between The University of East Anglia, the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) and Health Education East of England (HEEoE). This partnership, together with other health care Trusts and organisations across Norfolk and Suffolk has been developed to ensure that the programme will offer EEAST students the scope to continue to develop appropriate knowledge as well as skills.
The programme has been approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and offers a bespoke pathway for EEAST Students to enrol as UEA Students and commence a programme of study towards registration as a Paramedic. It is an exciting time in health services currently, but particularly so for those who are entering emergency unscheduled and out of hospital care. This full time year as a university student will provide students with a sound basis from which to further develop their career as a paramedic. Only students who successfully complete an HCPC programme are eligible to apply to the HCPC for registration as a paramedic.
The programme requires committed Paramedic Educators and Paramedics to help support and facilitate the student’s practice placement learning. This is an essential part of the programme and allows students to practice and apply the theory and skills they have learnt during University time in practice under direct supervision. The Paramedic Educator will help the student work through their Practice Assessment Document (PAD) throughout their programme helping them achieve the practice placement learning outcomes. Paramedics in practice will help students generate evidence to show continual learning and application of practice during practice placement time.
For further information regarding the programme and your role and responsibilities supporting UEA students enrolled onto the DipHE programme please contact Emma Parker-Jaggard or David Shepherd (contact details under ‘Other Useful Documents and Links’ on this website).
