Career summary
After training in economics and then health economics at the University of York, I worked for the York Health Economics Consortium, providing advice and health economic analyses to the NHS and pharmaceutical companies. In 2003, after a period working for the pharmaceutical industry, I joined UEA as a research associate on the Health Economics Support Programme (HESP), providing expertise in health economics and decision analysis to the NHS in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Between 2006 and 2009 I was the Health Foundation research training fellow in Health Economics, responsible for the design, conduct and analysis of economic evaluations alongside clinical trials, and in 2009 I was appointed lecturer in Health Economics. I am undertaking a PhD on a part-time basis investigating the use of value of information analysis to inform the design of future clinical trials.

Key Research Interests
My major interest is in the field of decision-analytic modelling, and in particular the link between such methods and clinical trials (through value of information analysis).
Teaching Interests
I lecture on the Economic Evaluation module of the MSc in Health Economics as well as giving occasional lectures and seminars on both the undergraduate Medical Degree at UEA and the MPhil in Epidemiology at the University of Cambridge.
Topics include:
- the structure of the NHS
- quality of life measurement
- the economics of tobacco control
- economic evaluation alongside clinical trials
