UEA Careers & Employability help UEA graduates for up to five years after graduation, offering a range of services. Many of these services can also be accessed remotely.
If you're currently a Finalist, this is your opportunity to sign-up for the last careers event of the academic year!
'If I can do it ...', Wednesday 13th June
This event will be an excellent way for you to Get Set To Go! UEA Alumni will be there to share their do's and don'ts from their careers so far, along with free refreshments and a chance to network.
Top Tips To Enhance Your Graduate Employability
- Use all your experience. A degree alone is rarely enough to secure a graduate job - use what you have gained from your whole student experience.
- Think beyond your subject. Bear in mind half of all graduate-level vacancies are open to candidates from any subject.
- Think laterally. Most occupations can be found in a wide variety of sectors.
- Quality over quantity. Adapt your CV and application to each job and research each organisation you apply to.
- Be persistent. Unsuccessful applications are all part of the process. Review your progress, seek feedback where possible and take guidance and advice.
- Be alive to opportunities. Taking small steps such as helping out friends or family, volunteering or involvement in clubs and societies.
- Many jobs aren't advertised. Creative job hunting can reap rewards.
- You will be a graduate for life. Don’t let current media doom and gloom get you down. Although it might take a while to get your career started, gaining a variety of experience after graduation will improve your employability and help narrow down which area of work you are best suited to
