Biography
At Aberystwyth University I undertook an AHRC-funded MA (Audience and Reception Studies) and was then granted an APRS (Aberystwyth Postgraduate Research Scholarship) to study for a PhD which I completed in 2011. My doctoral thesis explored how film stars are utilized in mother-daughter relationships by means of a unique online questionnaire and extended telephone interviews.
I am currently postdoctoral research associate on the three-year research project ‘Make Me Laugh: Creativity in the British Television Comedy Industry’, funded by the AHRC and run by the School of Film and Television Studies with Dr Brett Mills as Principal Investigator.
Publications
I am an Editorial Board member of the online journal of audience and reception studies, Participations and am currently co-writing (with Martin Barker) ‘What a performance!: Exploring audiences’ responses to acting’, an article drawing on research conducted into how audiences perceive and evaluate acting in a film.
