James Meek’s prizewinning fiction includes The People's Act of Love and We Are Now Beginning our Descent. His new novel, The Heart Broke In, has been shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award. It is a family drama of love, death and money set in the era of gene therapy and internet exposés. “His themes are grand and timeless: morality and ethics and how to live and love in a world with – or without – a God.” (The Telegraph)
