50th Anniversary Festival Weekend

28 September 2013 - 29 September 2013

Event Category: 50th Anniversary Event

Location: UEA Main Campus

Ticket price: Free admission

Attendees: All welcome

UEA welcomed its first students to the schools of Biological Sciences and English in September 1963 and to celebrate this, our 50th year, the University is delighted to invite alumni, former staff and members of the public to join current staff and students for a weekend of festivities.

During the day on Saturday 28 September, a huge array of activities will be on offer, from serious panel discussions by world experts, to hands-on family activities. Stand-up comedy and drama by some of our award-winning alumni will be performed as part of a Fringe Festival being run from the Drama Studio. Archive films and photographs from the last 50 years will be on show across campus and there will be a chance to attend a host of academic-led creative workshops. The Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts and the UEA Sportspark will also be open and running activities for all ages.

There will be food, music and plenty of entertainment on offer throughout the day. Evening festivities will culminate with a gig by an international headline act in a marquee by the Broad. Those who have the stamina to carry on the celebrations into the early hours will be able to attend an after party at the LCR.

On Sunday 29 September, further events will take place in the Drama Studio. Shows from the Saturday will be re-run, providing a second chance for those who missed them in the midst of the festival frenzy. The Sportspark pool will be open in the morning and there will be an alumni vs student sporting event taking place in the afternoon.

Further details and a programme of events will announced throughout the year.
