Visitor Parking

Parking is at a premium on the UEA Campus. This section aims to help you ensure your guests avoid being delayed by being unable to park. You will also find the charges for visitor parking on this page.

From 1 September paper visitor permits currently supplied in books will be replaced with visitor scratchcards.

Replacing paper permits with scratchcards will provide greater flexibility for hosts who have until now only been able to obtain permits in books of 50, which for most is simply too many. From 1 September those who wish to pay for the parking charges of their guests will be able to obtain as few as 10 scratchcards. Furthermore unlike the current permit which requires information about the host and the visitor to be completed prior to issue, the scratchcards only become valid once the visitor has entered their vehicle registration number and scratched off the day & date of the visit. Where scratchcards are not collected or are unused they can be returned to the issuing host for re-use by another invited guest.

Paper visitor permits will continue to be accepted until the end of the calendar year but from January 1st 2014 visitors should be provided with and use the new scratchcard. The cost of visitor parking remains as before and hosts who have unused (part or full) visitor permit books may exchange them for scratchcards or return them for a refund.

Where visitor scratchcards are left at the Lodge for collection by a guest the host must place the scratchcard(s) (if there is more than one guest) in an envelope and on the outside write clearly who the scratchcard(s) is intended for and the date of the visit; please include who scratchcards should be returned to if they are not collected.

If you require any further help or information please email: transport@uea.ac.uk and put the words “Visitor Parking Permits” in the subject box or telephone extension 2353.

Guidelines for use of visitor permits. Form for Purchase of Scratchcards

Please help your visitors by:

  • Providing information on public transport and taxi companies with invitations to meetings or events thus avoiding the need to park altogether.  Why not ask attendees to share journeys?
  • Arranging meetings for after 2.00 pm when there is less demand for parking.
  • Schedule regular (i.e. quarterly meetings etc.) to take place during vacation periods or reading weeks when demand for parking is reduced.
  • Provide a Visitor Parking Permit (£5.00 unrestricted, £2.00 for activities commencing 2.00 pm onwards) enabling use of the designated Visitor Car Park Boiler House Roof.
  • Make sure visitors know which car parks are available to them and what to do should parking prove difficult.  A leaflet is available from the Transport Assistant, the Lodge. The location of the Main Car Park and its shared use makes this our busiest area, the Central Car Park may be less busy.
  • Remind visitors who will be required to pay for parking to have change available.

Visitor car parking arrangements are subject to the
