Our environmental and social impacts from procurement are many and varied; product and location specific. The majority of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the higher education sector come from the goods, services and utilities (gas, electric etc). Other impacts include consumption and waste of natural resources, biodiversity loss, animal welfare, and social welfare in the UK and in less developed countries. Management of supply chains must therefore balance these competing demands.
