Emergency Preparedness- UEA Action

If you notice any leakages, fires, or other possible emergency situations, call the security lodge emergency number: 01603 592222 or the Estates Helpline for non-emergency events.

Find the UEA incident reporting form here.

We ensure that risk to the environment and to campus users is minimised through careful risk assessment and through contingency planning. We have developed an environmental incident reporting system (report an incident here) that helps us to check that our control procedures are working effectively.

Pollution prevention is particularly important at UEA due to the proximity of the River Yare (which currently scores “A” in the Environment Agency water quality ratings both upstream and downstream of UEA), and the UEA Broad (a County Wildlife Site). Local soil is highly porous compared to other areas in the UK so there is high potential for accidentally released liquids to permeate down to groundwater. The potential effects of local aquifer/groundwater contamination would be long term and over a wide geographical scale.

Our key objective is to prevent pollution and appropriately manage environmental risks from accidents incidents and emergencies.

Our current target is to achieve zero recorded spills and zero fines from environmental regulators on an on-going basis.
