In 2009 an Initial Environmental Review (IER) was undertaken for the UEA. This formed the first stage of work to develop an Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with specific commitments made in the environmental policy and presents a systematic and comprehensive assessment of UEA’s (then) current activity and performance in relation to environmental management.
ISO14001 was used as a framework, and UEA has made a commitment to achieve certification to the standard by Oct 2012 (UEA Environmental Programme, Oct 2009).
The IER report also establishes the foundation of our carbon reduction plan.
