Welcome to the Environment and Sustainability pages. The University has long been a leader in the field of environmental research and training and is committed to replicating this success in how we care for our campus and its surrounding environment, and in the everyday decisions we make in conducting our business.
Through our 2008 Corporate Plan we are committed to becoming an exemplar of good environmental practice and, in particular carbon reduction, in the HEI sector. You can read about some of our achievements by downloading our Environmental Report 2010, or enjoy some highlights in this short film:
To find out how we intend to continue to maintain and improve our sustainable campus please follow our links.
Biodiversity. Our beautiful and extensive campus is a haven for wildlife and we are proud of our stewardship of this site.
Energy & Climate Change The UEA campus has been a leader in the field of combined heat and power generation and low energy buildings for the last 15 years.
Water Management. Norwich is one of the driest places in the UK, so water conservation is an important regional issue. Our target is to reduce water consumption by 10% per student over 2008/9 levels by 2013.
Fairtrade We are pleased to offer a range of Fairtrade products through our retail outlets as part of its wider sustainable aims and objectives
The Risk & Sustainability Team may be leading the way but success is shared across the University with some 50 sustainability champions known as the "Carbon Crew " actively promoting best practice within their buildings.
Key Documents Here you will find all our policies, guidelines and other documents which aid delivery of the sustainability agenda at UEA.
