What is Erasmus?

What is Erasmus?

ERASMUS
("European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students") is the European Commission's educational programme for Higher Education students, teachers and institutions. It was introduced in 1987 with the aim of increasing student movement within the European Community including the European Economic Area countries, and the Candidate Country of Turkey. Erasmus is part of the European Union Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) for co-operation in the field of education.

The Erasmus student mobility programme offers students the opportunity to undertake a period of study (one semester or an academic year) in another European country and for that study to be recognised by the student’s home institution as part of their degree.
