UEA Staff Pride!

A network for staff who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans, the group's first meeting was held in July 2009 when it was agreed to meet once a term.

Staff Pride!
New members are very welcome and the group is steadily growing with both work-based and social meetings.  The University also has oganisational membership of Stonewall and aims to be taking initiatives connected to the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index over the next year so it's a good time to get involved. If you would like to be part of the network please contact equality@uea.ac.uk - all enquiries will be treated in strictest confidence.

The meetings are supported by the University's Equality Office which sits 'independently' in the Academic Division of the Registry and is not a part of either Human Resources or Dean of Students, as is sometimes thought.

The group aims to:
  • Raise the profile of issues to do with sexual orentation at work
  • Establish a space for a collective voice
  • Provide a forum to discuss issues and support those who feel they have, or are, experiencing discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation
  • Improve understanding within the wider community of LGBT issues and work to ensure a culture of respect for all.

For further information, please either email equality@uea.ac.uk or call the Equality Office on ext.1898  (01603 591898 from an external line).
