Equality Impact Assessment

Equality Impact Assessment has been introduced throughout the public sector and helps us to critically assess our policies and practices to ensure we, as an organisation, operate fairly and equitably.

As a process it may sound rather 'dry', however, it can be an exciting and powerful tool to make changes, where needed, to the way we provide our teaching, learning and support, employment and central services.

Each Assessment is normally carried out between a number of people who can contribute their knowledge and ideas of the policy or practice being assessed, their knowledge of the area(s) of the University covered by the policy and a good understanding of the current equality framework.

Training on Impact Assessment is available - either centrally, through CSED - or can be requested specifically for groups of staff.

It is recommended that the Equality Impact Assessment Form Word (115 KB) or pdf (65.2KB) is downloaded for use.
