Key Research Interests

My PhD research is on diapycnal mixing in the Southern Ocean, with particular focus on the Drake Passage region. Working as part of the DIMES (Diapycnal and Isopycnal Mixing Experiment in the Southern Ocean), I have modelled the DIMES tracer in three dimensions using an offline version of the MITgcm and observation-based velocity fields from the SatGEM product. Model outputs are compared with the tracer observations and used to establish whether the mixing measured by the tracer is consistent with microstructure and lee wave theory.
