I am a Professor of Physical Oceanography in the Meteorology, Oceanography and Climate Dynamics group in the School of Environmental Sciences at UEA, Norwich. I moved to UEA in 1989. My main research interests are in large scale observational oceanography. Regions currently being studied include the Southern Ocean, North Atlantic and the east coast of Greenland.
Previous projects have included WOCE Cruise A23 and ALBATROSS and the North Scotia Ridge Overflow Project.
Our latest project is ADELIE - click here for the results, photos and a daily diary from the research cruise at the Antarctic Peninsula in February 2007.
My research group currently consists of 6 PhD students and 1 postdoctoral researcher. Fourteen PhD students have completed their theses under my supervision.
If you are interested in studying for a PhD with me, please send me an email.
I recently handed on the Chair of the International Antarctic Zone Programme (iAnZone) to Alex Orsi and Andrea Bergamasco. I am helping to plan the SASSI project for the International Polar Year.
