Offset your Carbon

An agreement has been set up with UEA Estates that staff/students can offset travel by working out their Carbon footprint and then make a donation to a cost code (quote 1322 ENV 23 CF) that Estates will use to buy trees / shrubs to plant around the grounds which offsets the carbon. There is the option to volunteer to help planting if people prefer to donate time rather than money. Otherwise, £2.50 buys one ‘whip’ (small tree) that typically offsets the carbon for a field trip abroad per person, students are encouraged to make a donation when paying for their field trip invoice. The code is ENV but anyone at UEA can make donations.

On average, one broad leaf tree will absorb in the region of 1 tonne of carbon dioxide during its full life-time (approximately 100 years).
