Coastal Processes Research Group

Welcome to the Coastal Processes Research Group!

The Coastal Processes Research Group is a group of Faculty, Research Scientists and Graduate Students with an interest in the Coastal Zone. Our research combines field expertise with numerical modelling (Telemac suite & Swan) to address research questions pertaining to sand transport on beaches and the shoreface, sand mining, measurement of mud transport using acoustics, and coastal morphodynamics around engineering structures, wind farms and sand banks.

The Coastal Processes Research Group is one of a number of specialist units within The School of Environmental Sciences (ENV) at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, U.K. The school has a wide range of interests and experience in coastal research, covering such diverse fields as geophysics, geomorphology and morphodynamics, ecology, sediments, physical and chemical oceanography, air-sea interaction, modelling, coastal protection, environmental risk management, sea-level rise, flood hazard, etc. Members of faculty and PDRAs have conducted research projects in many parts of the world, funded by Research Councils and by external contracts. The School is also well equipped to undertake a variety of survey work (beach, estuary and shallow coastal using RTK-GPS), field measurements (ADCP, Dobie, Acoustic & Optical sensors), PSA and chemical and sediment analysis of field samples.
