The school has pioneered the theory and practice of interdisciplinary research since its founding in 1967.
Research is undertaken under a set of guiding themes, in interdisciplinary centres as well as by groupings of like-minded researchers. Wherever possible, we attempt to identify and exploit novel connections within and between research themes, as well as outside to the rest of UEA and beyond to the wider academic community. This is the essence of the School's unique ethos.
- Climate Change Science and Society

Our research activities take place in world recognised research centres such as Tyndall and CSERGE, in research laboratories such as LGMAC, and in ZICER, as well as within the School generally. The School benefits from excellent research facilities and has extensive national and international links with many other research and policy making bodies.
