Biography

I research, teach and supervise graduate students on issues such as: social vulnerability, resilience and adaptation to environmental change; on justice and equity in decision-making; and the application of economics to global environmental change. I am a member of the Resilience Alliance, and host its UEA node with Katrina Brown from the School of Development Studies. I lead the research programme on adaptation in the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. I am a Convening Lead Author for the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in its assessment and evaluation of adaptation. I edit the journal Global Environmental Change with Katrina Brown and Mike Hulme. I was awarded a Philip Leverhulme Prize from the Leverhulme Trust in 2001 for my research achievements.
