Health Impact Assessment Training course – a two-day training course for Brighton and Hove PCT and local authority covering health impact assessment at the plan and project level.

Environmental Management training, 2006

Environmental Management Training - a 2-week training programme on Environmental Impact Assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment and Environmental Auditing and Management Systems provided for delegates from the Gambia and a representative of the European Commission in Romania. April 3rd-14th, 2006.

DEFRA, 2005-2006

MRWS - SEA compatibility - an examination of the compatibility of the Managing Radioactive Waste Safely (MRWS) programme currently underway in the UK to identify a long-term management solution for radioactive waste, with the requirements of the Strategic Environmental Assessment Directive. The research will include consideration of the work of the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) and will prepare a gap analysis as part of the compatibility assessment.

NuLeAF, 2005-2006

Key Implementation Issues - subcontracted by Enviros and working with Westlakes Scientific Consulting on a study for the Nuclear Legacy Advisory Forum (NuLeAF). The study will review international and UK experience on veto, volunteerism and community benefits for large infrastructure projects and will examine findings in the context of the future process for implementing the long-term management of the UK's radioactive waste.

World Health Organisation, 2005

Providing health input to the UNECE SEA Protocol Guidance – there is currently a project to produce guidance for UNECE countries on implementing the SEA Protocol. This project aims to ensure that the coverage of health in the guidance is in line with the aspirations of the Protocol.

International Association for Impact Assessment, 2005

Health in Environmental Assessment training - a 2-day training programme on integration of health issues into SEA and EIA, in collaboration with Ben Cave Associates and DBL (Denmark) to an international audience at the 25 th Annual Meeting of the International Association for Impact Assessment; Boston, USA, 31 st May-3 June 2005.

East of England Public Health Group, 2004-2005

Health in the Built Environment Project - a regional training needs and gap analysis will be carried out as a precursor to the development of a training programme and process for spatial planning and ‘health' practitioners in the East of England Region.

Review of Nirex note on SEA – provision of independent input into the text of a note comparing the UK requirements for Strategic Environmental Assessment with the Managing Radioactive Waste Safely (MRWS) programme.

Health Development Agency, 2004

Evaluation activity within impact assessment areas other than Health Impact Assessment (HIA) – in order to determine what the growing field of Health Impact Assessment can learn from Environmental Impact Assessment and similar assessment processes.

World Health Organisation, 2003-2004

Health Impact Assessment Training Materials – the project will identify the existing resource materials in Europe, Australia and New Zealand and will collate them into a publicly available resource to be mounted on WHO web pages.

UK Nirex Ltd, 2003-2004

External peer review for non-radiological environmental assessment of the phased disposal concept – provision of independent input into the first phase of an EIA to be undertaken by RPS.

Welsh Assembly Government, 2002-2003

Health Issues and the Planning System – the project aims to present advice to the National Assembly for Wales on the best means of improving the consideration of health within planning. The project involves a consortium comprising the University of Wales Aberystwyth , Cardiff University and the Centre for Research into Environment and Health (CREH).

Terms of Reference to Advise and Recommend a Quality Assurance Programme – as part of the programme for sustainable development of regions affected by the Chernobyl disaster, the task is simply to recommend a QA Programme to be developed and implemented by the project.

European Environment Agency, 2001-2002

Section of Kiev Report – Research and text for section on progress in the implementation of Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment in all UNECE countries.

University of Liège, 2000-2003

Sustainable development of Urban historical areas through an active Integration within Towns (SUIT) – this contract aims to develop EIA and SEA methodologies in order to properly detail impacts on cultural heritage as part of the EIA procedure in all member states of the EU. The work is funded by the European Commission Research Directorate and is subcontracted to the EIA Unit through the University of Liège. Contract EVK4-CT-2000-00017.

A Health Impact Assessment of the Landfill Directive and Government Waste Strategy – a consortium-based project involving CREH, University of Wales Aberystwyth; Faber Maunsell; University of Birmingham; University if Wales, College of Medicine, Cardiff; Health Impact Assessment Research Unit, University of Birmingham.

Llwybr • Pathway, 2001

Sustainability Appraisal – an appraisal of the sustainability of projects funded by Llwybr • Pathway, comprised detailed analysis of four case studies involving stakeholder interviews and questionnaires.
