Overview
This exciting new four year programme will allow you to take your study of the Environmental Earth Sciences to an advanced level, where you will benefit from and take part in some of the world leading research undertaken within the School of Environmental Sciences at UEA.

You will receive a high quality training that emphasises the links between Earth science subjects and the environment. The new MSci programme will cover topics such sedimentology, geochemistry, geodynamics, applied geophysics, palaeoclimatology, along with related environmental matters such as geological hazards, climate change, water supply, energy and non-renewable resources, land and water pollution, and other impacts of resource extraction and waste disposal.

The programme will enable you to develop a critical awareness of issues at the frontier of research, along with a comprehensive understanding of research methods and their limitations. You will gain the qualities of self-direction and originality in applying knowledge, solving problems and conducting research.

The first three years of the programme will follow the same profile as the BSc Environmental Earth Sciences. In the fourth and final year you will study a range of masters level modules, as well as undertaking a substantial piece of independent research in a topic that matches your interests. And most importantly this programme will inspire a lifelong interest, knowledge and understanding of the way the Earth works.

This pathway is also accredited by the Geological Society of London, as a first degree that offers sound training for a professional career in the geosciences and which satisfies their academic requirements of Fellowship and Chartered Geologist status.
