Snetterton Renewable Energy Plant
Date: 11th February 2016
A sudden opportunity was grabbed to take our MSc students to this new straw-fired power station at a time when the contractor was installing the new boiler. One of our undergraduate year-in-industry students helped to arrange the visit.
Despite the fascinating tour of the plant most of the students found the chat with the site staff over a cup of tea at the end was the most interesting. The tour was organised by Danish firm BWE who install these large boilers all over Europe. The site staff’s reflections on how Denmark introduced renewable energy in the 1950’s kept the students intrigued.
