Norwich Research Park is a partnership between the University of East Anglia, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, four independent research institutes namely the John Innes CentreQuadram Institute and the Earlham Institute (all strategically funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)) and The Sainsbury Laboratory linked to the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. The BBSRC and the John Innes Foundation are also partners.

Potential research areas

Metal-air battery, Al-ion battery, graphene synthesis, air treatment (VOCs, NOx), desalination, heat and mass transport in electrodes, battery thermal management, density functional theory (DFT) calculations, etc

  1. Visiting researcher: £ 1,000 per month as support (depends on qualification)

  2. We welcome applications from candidates eligible for PhD studentships funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). CSC will cover University tuition fees, a grant for living costs and one return flight from China to the UK. Please note that candidates will not only have to submit an application to UEA but also apply directly for funding to the CSC by their required deadline. Apply to UEA by January 24th 2020 and mention their intention to apply for a CSC PhD Scholarship.

  3. Self-funded PhD (3 years) from China, South Korea, Japan, Pakistan, India, Turkey, and others. Tuition fee: £  per year (international)

  4. UK/EU PhD (3 years)

  5. CSC funded 0.5-2 year visiting Master/PhD student (no English level requirement, supporting T5 UK VISA)

In supporting items 4. or 5., visitors can apply for Vice-Chancellor’s Global Challenges Research Fellowships (2 rounds with the following application deadlines in 2019: 14th June, 19th December). Successful Fellows will receive the following financial support: A stipend of £2,000 per month (is subject to tax and National Insurance deductions), Travel costs (including visa fees) of up to £2,000, Research, support and training costs of up to £5,000.
