New PPD Module – March 2013 - Developing Innovative Approaches to Teaching and Learning through Lesson Study

Dates for spring 2013 are Tuesday 5, 12, 26 March and 21 May from 5.00–8.00 pm

This new module is delivered by Professor John Elliott, an international expert on Lesson Studies and will support schools and teaching teams in meeting the current agenda of school-based teacher development and training. The 4 weekly sessions will use team-based action research to explore lesson study as an approach to improving learning and teaching, an approach endorsed by education ministers.

Working in teams, teachers will develop a design for learning a specific topic, concept or skill through observing lessons and gathering evidence from pupils about their learning experience, with reflection and analysis being supported by academic experts.

The expertise and knowledge that you gain on this course will be shared with colleagues at your school through INSET days and other CPD events.

In order to be effective you will need to work in groups of 3 or 4 teachers from your current school. Alternative arrangements may be possible, for example working in a school consortium.

This module can be taken on its own or as part of the MA in Applied Education Practice.

Fee for spring 2013 £550

Details of how to apply will follow very shortly
