There are 3 main routes for graduates to train as teachers:
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) combining University-based tuition/guidance with substantial teaching placements in school(s)
- SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) based in a school
- GTP (Graduate Teacher Programme) based in a school
All routes lead to QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) at the end of the course.
For more information about these and other routes into teaching, see www.teach.gov.uk.
