Research Ethics

Welcome to the Research Ethics section. Here you will find information relating to the ethical conduct of research, including the procedures for obtaining ethical approval for research projects.

All UEA employed staff, postgraduate students and undergraduate students who are undertaking research involving human participants are required to follow the UEA ethics procedures. This is to ensure that research is of public benefit and is conducted in a way that respects the dignity, rights, and welfare of participants, and minimises risk to participants, researchers, and third parties.

All EDU staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students undertaking any research involving human participants must obtain ethical approval from the EDU Ethics Committee before they begin their research.

All students must discuss ethical procedures with their supervisor or tutor. Undergraduate students, and postgraduates on certain taught programmes, should follow the procedure explained by their supervisor or tutor.
