- Investigate tacit and aims and assumptions underlying conceptions of teaching and learning
- Examine the epistemological and ethical bases of educational research
- Show how philosophy is one of the viatal interdisciplinary strands in thinking about education
- Promote innovative and creative thinking both in educational practice and research
