Biography
Peter Dawson is a lecturer in Economics. He holds a PhD from the University of Hull. Before joining UEA, Peter was employed in the Department of Economics at the University of Bath. His research is largely in the area of applied microeconometrics and has developed applications in labour economics, education economics and, most notably, sport and leisure. Projects he is currently working on include: the intangible impacts of major sporting events; the determinants of participation and volunteering in sport; social pressure, identity and the performance of officials in sporting contests; the relationship between social capital, windfalls and self-employment; the decision-making process of electoral turnout; the impact of student placements and internships on degree performance and labour market outcomes. He is a member of the Royal Economic Society and the International Association of Sports Economists.
