The School of Economics is pleased to invite you to the final talk within the Contemporary Economic Issues series this semester, which takes place on Monday the 18th of March, from 6pm, in lecture theatre Arts 01.02. Our guest speaker is Dr. Hershbinder Mann, on behalf of the UK Data Services. He will provide:

An introduction to key resources for social scientists

by Dr Hershbinder Mann

The UK Data Service is a comprehensive resource for users of social and economic data. The service provides a single point of access to a wide range of secondary data including large-scale government surveys, international macrodata, business microdata, qualitative studies and census data. This lecture will be of particular interest to university academics and students in disciplines like economics, political science and sociology. It will provide an outline of the service, offer an overview of what kind of datasets are available, explain how to search for data to match particular research needs, demonstrate how data users can register with the service to access materials from the data catalogue, and show other resources the service offers to support research and teaching.

Dr. Hersh Mann is Senior Data and Support Services Officer at the UK Data Services (‘The UK Data Archive’), based at the University of Essex.

Members of the public are warmly welcomed to attend the C.E.I. lecture series at nil charge.

Refreshments will be provided at the end of the lecture.
