Oleksandr (Sasha) Talavera joined the School of Economics from 1 August 2009. He has BA in Economics from Ostroh Academy, MA in Economics from Kyiv School of Economics (EERC), and MA in Economics from Boston College. His PhD in Economics is from the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt-Oder. Before joining the UEA, Sasha held positions at the Robert Gordon University and German Institute for Economic Research (DIW-Berlin). His main research interests are in the areas of empirical corporate finance, entrepreneurship, managerial labour markets, applied macroeconomics, and transition economies.

Professor Klaus Abbink is Director of CBESS (new Centre for Behavioural and Experimental Social Science), from 1 September 2009.  Professor Abbink was previously at CREED (Center for Research in Experimental Economics and Political Decision-making, Amsterdam) and CEDEX (Centre for Decision Research and Experimental Economics, Nottingham) before.  His research interests are experimental and behavioural economics.

Subhasish Modak Chowdhury, will join the School as a Lecturer in Economics this Autumn. He obtained his PhD in Economics from Purdue University. Before joining Purdue, he completed his MSc in Quantitative Economics from Indian Statistical Institute and BA in Economics from Jadavpur University, India. His primary areas of interests span theoretical, experimental and empirical investigation of problems in Industrial Organization, Public Economics, and Political Economy.

Joel Clovis joined the School of Economics from 1 September 2009 as Lecturer. Joel Clovis’s research interests are in applied econometrics, econometric methodology, particularly financial sector econometrics. He is currently working on modelling the determinants of financial sector innovation, infrastructure development and integration into the global economy.

Dr Xinyi Li joined the School of Economics as an ATS Lecturer from 1 October 2009. He will provide general and individual tutorial support and teach study skills for undergraduates and postgraduates, with special though not exclusive attention to international students.
