A working paper reporting the results of a “trust game” has been quoted in the ‘New York Times’ and ‘El Pais’
A working paper by Professor Daniel Zizzo, Professor Shaun Hargreaves Heap and Jonathan Tan has recently been quoted in the ‘New York Times’ http://www.nytimes.com and ‘El Pais’ www.elpais.com
The article “In Equality We Trust?” focuses on income inequality being negatively related to trust. The working paper reported results of a “trust game” in which players can transfer resources to other players in the hope that additional resources will be transferred back to them. They found that inequality among players had a corrosive effect on trusting behaviours particularly when players had specific knowledge of one another’s endowments.
