The next Contemporary Economic Issues Lecture will be held on Monday 7th February 2011 at 6.10pm in Lecture Theatre 1. Dr Sara Connolly (UEA) will present "Gender, Pay and Promotion - Glass Ceilings or Sticky Floors?".
The UK has had equal pay and anti-discrimination legislation since 1974. However, when the 2010 Equality Act came into force the average gender pay gap between men and women in full-time work was 16%. This talk explores explanations for the persistence of the gender pay gap and assesses where women face barriers in reaching the top.
