E-Bulk

E-bulk Launches at UEA on Monday 3rd June 2013.

New and continuing students commencing courses from September 2013 will be contacted from Monday 3rd June 2013 via email inviting them to make an application for their DBS Disclosure (formerly known as CRB Disclosure) using the new E-Bulk System.

What is E-bulk?

E-bulk is a secure online system enabling students to apply for Enhanced DBS Disclosures online. The process is completely paperless. Once completed and checked by the Student Disclosure Service the form is submitted using E-bulk (a secure encrypted connection) directly to the DBS. Completed Enhanced DBS Disclosures are returned to the Student Disclosure Service electronically. The student still receives a paper copy of the completed Disclosure. E-bulk has been approved by the DBS, Home Office and Ministry of Justice.

Service Improvements

Enhanced DBS Disclosures can be completed within 24 hours however, 80% are completed within one week. The process is reduced by an average of 8 days compared to paper applications due to manual administration at the DBS being avoided as data is transmitted electronically and enters the DBS system the same day it is countersigned. Completed Enhanced DBS Disclosures with no criminal record are received by us electronically the day they are completed, avoiding mail delays. However, completed Enhanced DBS Disclosures with a criminal record will continue to be received by post.

Dramatically Reduces Errors!

Data is validated as the student completes the application with errors and "typos" identified and corrected at the outset. There is also a reduction in queries and delays at the DBS due to incomplete data being submitted.

Accessibility

The student can fill in the application online in their own time and anywhere providing they have a secure internet connection.

Secure and Reliable

Fully compliant with all DBS requirements; applications are electronically submitted over the Criminal Justice System’ secure network which basically means valuable and personal data is safe.
