When completing an Enhanced DBS Disclosure there are three routes (1, 2 or 3) which can be used to establish your identity and should be followed in sequence. Each route refers to three groups of acceptable documents to verify your identity. A list of the acceptable documents can be found by clicking here and details about the routes shown below:
ROUTE 1
THREE documents are needed in total.
ONE document from Group 1 and TWO documents from Groups 1, 2a or 2b.
ROUTE 2
THREE documents are needed in total.
ONE document from Group 2a and TWO documents from Groups 2a or 2b.
The Student Disclosure Service will also conduct an External ID Verification Check using Experian for anyone using this route in order to establish your name and living history footprint. This check will only provide us with a "Pass" or "Fail" result.
ROUTE 3
FIVE documents are needed in total. A Birth Certificate (UK and Channel Islands only)
plus ONE document from Group 2a and THREE documents from Groups 2a or 2b.
NOTES
The DBS requests that applicants should complete Route 1 as standard unless there are valid reasons for using the other routes.
Applicants who are unable to satisfy any of the above routes will be asked to complete the DBS Disclosure Application Form and will be contacted by the local police to attend for fingerprinting in order to establish their identity before an Enhanced DBS Disclosure can be issued.
Applicants from outside of the EU must complete Route 1 only and those who cannot satisfy this route will be processed to fingerprining as per the above.
