Student Disclosure Service

The Student Disclosure Service is a central service which processes Enhanced Disclosures with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for students who require one as part of their course.

The DBS was formed following a merger between the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) which came into effect in December 2012.

Students will be contacted by us when they are expected to complete the DBS application process as information is provided directly to us via Admissions or the Learning and Teaching Service (LTS).

This website will provide details about the process including links to useful documents to enable you to complete your DBS Disclosure as delays could affect your ability to complete the clinical aspect of your course.

Please feel free to contact us should you have any queries.

Currently, the courses where an Enhanced DBS Disclosure is required are:

Adult Nursing   Children's Nursing   Mental Health Nursing
Learning Disabilities Nursing   Midwifery   Operating Department Practice
Return to Practice Nursing   Return to Practice Midwifery   Physiotherapy
Occupational Therapy   Speech and Language Therapy   Medicine
Medicine with a Foundation Year   PGCE Primary   PGCE Secondary
Pharmacy   Physical Education and Sport   Educational Studies
Social Work   PG Dip Counselling   MA Counselling
Clinical Psychology   Biology with Science Communication   Research

We also process applications for Student Volunteers as part of the Volunteers in Primary School Scheme.

All Staff and Student Ambassador DBS Disclosures are carried out by the Human Resources Division (HRD) who can be contacted via email at hr@uea.ac.uk.
