The School’s research in the area of social development advances theory, analysis and debate about processes of social change, institutions and identities across a variety of settings and sectors.
We use anthropological, sociological and political theory and method, and also work with economists and environmental scientists in the School. Our research addresses questions about social and relational understandings of human wellbeing, inseparable from wider institutional arrangements, social relations and gender dynamics.
