Case Study Country Workshops

Dissemination events are taking place in each of the case study countries to present research findings about the governance of clean development in that country. The focus in each event is on sharing results and facilitating discussion around areas for potential reform that have been identified. In addition to the South Africa event in Durban, a workshop was held at FLACSO in Buenos Aires in May 2011 and was attended by over 30 participants from government, business and civil society. GCD findings in India were discussed at a seminar at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, in September 2010.

PhD Student Workshop

In September 2010, the Governance of Clean Development Project co-ran a one day workshop, 'Theorising Climate Governance', aimed at UK-based PhD students. The workshop, sponsored by the ESRC and the Leverhulme Trust, brought together doctoral students working on different aspects of climate governance from a range of social science disciplines to encourage debate and reflection on the value and limitations of different theoretical approaches to the question of climate governance. The agenda for the day is available.

Training

We have offered training for government officials from developing countries drawing on lessons learned from our in country research focussed on ‘Enabling Clean Development’ alongside workshops in each of the case study countries to feed back key findings and a final dissemination meeting in London with government, business and civil society groups active in the area of clean development.

In September 2010 and 2011, Peter Newell ran training sessions on the CDM with participants on the ‘Climate Change and Development: Short Course’ at UEA. Participants came from the UNDP, IFC, ADB, JICA, DfID and several developing country  governments. Peter has also delivered a training session on the CDM at the International Parliamentary Conference on Climate Change in London, which brought together over 100 parliamentarians from across the world. The event was organised by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

GCD Policy Briefings

Publications

Work in progress is submitted as working papers to key climate change research centres in the UK and overseas. Since launching The Governance of Clean Development Working Paper Series with our first working paper outlining the GCD framework, several academics and practitioners have submitted papers to the series.

Outputs from our research will be submitted to peer-reviewed academic journals.

The Policy Briefing Series summarises key findings from the project in both English and Spanish. Our second policy briefing is available now, Governing Clean Development: What Have We Learnt? [PDF 767 KB].

An edited book on the theme of The Governance of Clean Development will also be produced. To see our publications to date and those forthcoming, click here.
