Student Counselling

The University Counselling Service is available to all registered students of the University. Appointments are available throughout the week including Monday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings (term-time only). If you wish to make an initial appointment, it would be helpful to bring details of your time-table and any other regular commitments you have. This way we can ensure we do not offer you an ongoing time that you are unable to make. See 'Making an Appointment' for further information.

The Service is confidential. Your School of Study, doctor, family or friends will not be informed that you are coming to counselling. The only exceptions to this are times when we are seriously concerned about the well-being of a client or someone they know. Such circumstances are extremely rare. Also, there are a very few instances when we are required by law to pass on information.

If you are thinking about counselling, you may have academic or personal concerns. The Service has a number of counsellors trained to work with a wide variety of issues and also an Educational Counsellor whose priority is working with students experiencing academic difficulties.
